Taking a short holiday from my blog as I'm in the middle of a very busy work period and study but I will still make the occassional Facebook post and share a make up piece from one of my favourite online blogs or  a website that I follow that you might find interesting, informative or just plain fun. Once I return I'll be posting a tutorial request from one of my readers.

Marrakesh Sunset

Inspired by the rich and vibrant colours of bustling Marrakesh in Morocco and it's dazzling sunset's ARTDECO launches it's latest limited edition trend collection for the European S/S 2012.

Bright aqua statement eyes are the strongest feature and an on trend look popping up on models straight off the most recent runway shows. To keep the look wearable and fresh be light handed when working with blue make up. Use a strong accent of colour over the lids and team with softer, glossy lips and contoured cheekbones, keeping the remainder of the make up pared down.

With shades of bright aqua, coral red, golden bronze and fuscia pink the collection adds warmth and colour to the skin to bring it to life and add a beautiful glow.

Marrakesh Sunset

As always with ARTDECO, this collection is beautifully packaged in a design to compliment the theme with the limited edition turquoise and orange paisley pattern. Every girl will want one of these in her handbag!

Hydra Lip Booster glosses in #18 Translucent Mandarin, #32 Translucent Mocha and #38 Translucent Rose for a beautiful sheer, shiny and silky lip finish. Hyaluronic filling spheres maintain hydration of the lips and plump and smooth fine lines around the lipline.

Beautiful silky textured and easy to apply and blend, eyeshadow shades in in #13 Bronze Mirror, #30 Drifting Sand, # 235 Sweet Apricot and #258 Clear Blue.

The pearl eyeshadows, (#13 & #30) are long lasting and fragrance free, suitable for even the most sensitive eyes. The duochrome eyeshadows, (#235 & #258) with high colour brilliance will change colour depending on how the light bounces off the eye. ARTDECO eyeshadows are all magnetized to easily mix and match within their beauty boxes - what a fantastic feature. When you run out of a colour, simply re-purchase the desired colour or even try something new without having to invest in a whole new pallette.
Expert tip: For more intensity at the lashline apply with a slightly dampened eye shadow brush and blend across the lid.

The beauty boxes & blusher palettes feature a gorgeous paisley pattern in hues that mirror those found in the products. Both bronzer and blusher are imprinted with the gorgeous paisley design.

Sweep the blusher compact for a youthful, rosy glow. The Bronzing Glow Blusher pallette combines shades of coral, fuchsia and rosewood tones that are designed to work separately or together. Lightly textured to and easy to blend the tri pallette contains added Vitamin C and E for added anti aging benefits.

Two shades of Bronzing Powder Compact in  Marrakesh Dune and  Mocha provide the perfect sun kissed  effect with a matt finish and added SPF 15 for skin protection making them perfect for day. ARTDECO bronzers are long lasting due to their water repelling ingredients. No added parabens, fragrances or mineral oil.

Love the Bronzing Glow Powder for the face, shoulders and a sweep across the décolletage, cheekbones and brow bone. The pearl pigments add a luminous highlight to the skin and are also paraben and lanlolin free.

Load up your lashes with the fabulous All in One Mascara in a WP version for volume, curl and lash separation.

4 High shine, ceramic nail colour in #263 Oriental Blossom, #265 Bright Sky, #267 Oriental Nectarine & #269 Magic Orient complete the look.

Plum Passion

One of the key lip looks Rae Morris was demonstrating was the purple lip for Autumn/Winter 2012. Love this look. Watch below how to create a perfectly polished bright lip easily and effortlessly. - It's all in the brush!

The Rae Morris take on the plum lip. The power pout is in so have strong colour pop from the lips and nails. Skin is flawless and luminous and eyes are bare in this contemporary look, which further enhances the lips.

Sci Fi Glamour and Luminous, Cyber Skin @ LMFF

Always a great time at LMFF Beauty Workshop with Rae Morris. Today Rae and her team presented several key looks and new trends for AW 2012. This year it's all about colour, and cyber skin. What does this mean? Think Sci Fi Glamour. Sophisticated & elegant.
Scarlet lips, violet eyes... hot, modern, fresh!
The following videos demonstrate the statement and deep jewelled eye & bright, rich and intense lip looks.
Forget the cut crease look, this seasons eye is all about pulling one colour straight across and to the outer corner and down. This effect makes even the smallest eyes look so much bigger as it creates a lift and pulls the eye out.

Salon photoshoot in a few weeks, looking forward to recreating a couple of these looks on our models.

Get the look: A modernised version of the super-sexy smoky eye is key to this look, so don't be shy. This season we've complemented with a sheer base and amped it up with a very feminine rose lipstick.

Get the look: Red lips will provide a pop of colour this winter. For women nervous about going too bold, opt for a red lip gloss instead. For the eyes, a soft sheer violet complements all complexions perfectly.

Get the look: This look is all about a modern take on the beauty look of the 1940s. Neutral browns have been used over the eye and teamed with a deep red lipstick which, applied to just the centre of the mouth, gives the illusion of fuller lips.

Get the look: Scarlet lips are always hot, but tomato red is one of the key shades for 2012. Violet shadow gives eyes a seductive smokiness, while the complexion is dewy and creamy.

Return to the dark side

Gucci's gothic glamour got Milan Fashion Week off to a dark start. Their Milan show might have been dark, but it was far from dreary. Italian powerhouse Gucci unveiled an ultra glamorous array of floor-length, billowing dresses in midnight hues. "This is modern-day romanticism," designer Frida Giannini said. "A dramatic sensuality, a dark glamour with subtle tones of provocative intellect."

The offerings in black, forest green and plum had been designed with decadence in mind – fur, silk, velvet and leather all adorned Edwardian-esque layered ensembles. Plum lipstick, leather capes and moody lighting all complemented the noir feel of the presentation.

I've already mentioned it in a previous post but with models sashaying down the catwalk at all the major international collections and most recently at the LMFF Illamasqua/Kevin Murphy colloboration backstage the dark berry lip is sure to be a popular look for the next few seasons. Winter is perfect for trying rich shades like wine, aubergine, plum, mulberry, raisin and merlot.

Rochas FW 12/13

Opt for the softer, more romantic finish with a stained lip finish by pushing the colour into the lips with your fingers for a more subtle and muted look for day.
Or amp up the vamp with a precisiely lined and sleek crismon lip applied with a fine tipped lip brush for night time glamour.

Alex Perry AW 12 for LMFF

Dark lips call for a sculpted flawless skin, sheek and sheer, smouldering eyes. Bring some warmth to the look by applying a soft hued blush for day o stronger contoured look for night. Prep work is vital for strong lip colours. You should hydrate the lips at least five minutes before applying the lip stain so prime your lips first with Lip Balm for soft, smooth lip and then stain or prime the lips with Lip Base before applying lip pencil and filling in the lips with lipstick. Nothing looks worse than applying a dark lipstick shade to dry, chapped lips.

Darker colours have a tendency to look a little flat and will make small lips appear smaller so highlight the centre of the bottom lip with a lighter, more violet or golden shimmer to create a fuller more voluminous lip.

Apply lipstick with a lip brush for precision and pull the colour out from the centre. Avoid smothering the lips in too much lipstick/gloss as it will bleed and look to heavy and messy. This look requires beautifully, polished application on a smooth, plump lip.

Bold eyes at Greta Constantine

Backstage beauty at Greta Constantine's Fall 2012 show at Toronto Fashion Week. For a modern take on the smoky eye the eyebrows have been gently blocked out leaving the focus entirely on the bold, sculpted eye. Gold metallic accents on the lid an inner corner give an Egyptian twist. The rest of the make up remains completely understated with a nude muted lip stain and flawless velvet skin. To take this look form runway to realway, tone it down about 40% and buffer the strong edges for a softer, more blended look and add a little gloss to the pout of the lips to create some fullness to create a more wearable look.

Baby Turns Blue

2012's new blue hair trend recently came straight from fashion shows such as Thakoon, Narciso Rodriguez, and Jean Paul Gaultier with celebrities like Katy Perry & Selena Gomez jumping on this trend immediately. Inspired by opulent jewel tones, peacock blue is this season's statement colour.
Katy Perry is not shy when trying out bold new hair colour and make up trends and pulled together the look even at a generally understated glamour event such as The Oscars with an electric blue bob and matching eyes.

Nailing the bright tourquoise wash of colour across the lid were selected models at Dita Von Teese's Von Follies Lingerie launch at LMFF this week. Teamed with velvety skin, flicked liner, false lashes and bold lips, the look was flawless bringing vintage glamour right on trend for Autumn/Winter 2012.
