The next big thing!

Blemish Balm or more commonly referred to as BB cream is the latest product to take the Australian beauty industry by storm. Normally I wouldn't delve into other brand make up/skincare products on this blog but this product is on the tip of every beauty blogger's tongue and you can't flip through a magazine without reading about it, so for curiosity's sake let's take a look.

The first BB cream originated in Germany back in the 1950’s where it was formulated by dermatologists to calm stressed skin and to soothe, regenerate and protect post-surgery sensitive skin. It literally creates a flawless, radiant looking skin leaving it looking brighter, younger and smoother.

The original BB cream from Germany

BB creams have been popular in Asian countries for years and used to create a more even and brighter skin tone with its skin clearing, skin smoothing and redness reducing properties. When Korean actresses started using the cream a craze was born. Big companies took the idea and created a product and made it available to the public.

Fast forward to 2011 and BB creams are being hailed as the  new wonder skincare/make up product designed for all skin types and especially those with sensitive and acne prone skin to freshen the complexion like a tinted moisturizer and hydrate, minimize/hide blemishes, even out skin tone, provide sun protection and give skin a bonus dewy, natural looking glow.

Prolonged used of the product claims to help improve the overall texture of the skin and fade acne scars.

It sounds like the perfect skin enhancing primer with some coverage to boot. Here's hoping ARTDECO come up with their own version of this fab sounding product!

I’m seeing lots of information about Australia's 1st BB Cream by Garnier, new Miracle Skin Perfector -  rrp $13.95 . It’s being touted as  the ultimate  all-in-one solution for instantly flawless, healthy glowing skin providing 5 instant benefits.

Staying true to the BB formulas of the 1950’s, Miracle Skin Perfector provides an instant, flawless finish with just the one product.

It combines the best of skincare with the benefit of make-up in 1 product to deliver 5 instant benefits:

1. Hydrates for 24hrs
2. Evens tone
3. Corrects blemishes
4. Boosts healthy glow
5. UV Protection SPF 15

Search on the internet and you will find there are dozens of brands out there making BB creams . The most popular ones seem to be  Skin 79, Missha,The Face Shop Aloe BB Cream, BRTC range, Dr G. and Dr Jart. For those with acne prone skins choose one that is not too oily and more matte than dewy.

I’m  eagerly awaiting my Garnier sample but for $13.95 you can’t really go wrong. I think I might also like to try the original BB cream, afterall it has 50 years of formulation behind it. If anyone has tried any of these BB creams I'd love to hear your thoughts about them.

Are BB creams over rated? Too good to be true? Have Make Up Bases and Skin Primers long replaced them with advanced and high tech ingredients. Are BB creams just enjoying a resurgence and with all the hype everyone is jumping on the bandwagon?

Will you be trying a BB Cream for yourself?
