Violent Lips

Violent Lips temporary lip tattoos were pioneered by entertainment industry veterans Jeff Haddad and Lori Magnier, who came up with the idea after their daughters wore the Chanel temporary tattoos to a charity event.

Violent Lips first appeared in NYC last year and began popping up on beauty blogs when British singer Jesse J appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and showed off her Union Jack inspired temporary tattooed lips. She also sported Swarovski crystallized lips in her ‘Do It Like A Dude’ video bringing decorative lips into focus.

In designs of animal print, fishnet, flags, rainbows and high glitter finishes they are sure to be a hot trend now that celebrities like Kim Kardashian snapped herself in the black and white checkered design on Twitter and recently Lady Gaga wore the blue glitterati lips. Khloe Kardashian was seen wearing the silver glitterati pattern last year whilst younger sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner wore the Union Jack and Purple Cheetah designs. Other celebs like Snookie and Kelly Rowland seem to be fans of thes latest beauty accessory.

Violent Lips promise to last for  4 – 8 hours, contain vitamins to condition the lips and you can even eat and drink while wearing them. Each pack comes with three applications and costs $14.95.The product is FDA approved, contains no animal products and is not tested on animals. The product is easy to apply and can be removed by using baby oil or mineral oil with a textured wipe.

I saw them in Priceline last week and the box on the front counter was sold out when I went back after work to buy myself a pair.

I’ll give them a try to see what the hype is all about. I’m interested to see how they contour to the lip and how well they last but at $5 a wear you can’t really go wrong if they are quick and easy to apply and look realistic.

I think I prefer the DIY approach myself for a more individual look though. It’s easy enough to use some fishnet stocking or tulle to create similar effects or draw on a leopard print design and add some glitter layered on top of your lipstick.
