The new natural - the look is supposed to be no make up, but you know it's still a lot of make up.
Barely there makeup seems simple but a lot of preparation is required for that naturally, flawless look.
Discreet makeup and natural tones are a key look this season and a simple day time make up look for anyone who likes to look polished but very natural and fresh. The requirements are immaculate skin, sculptured cheekbones, sheer, creamy textures and taupe eyeshadow tones plus strong natural arched brows to understated glamour.
Get the look
Prep: Apply an SPF moisturizer to clean skin to hydrate and protect. For immaculate, flawless looking skin apply primer to improve the skin texture and smooth fine lines, disguise imperfections and achieve the required soft focus glow. A light reflective undercoat is the first stage in make up.
Flawless skin: Use concealer to hide blemishes and cover shadows. Melt into the skin with your fingertips. To brighten and lift your eye area press a yellow based concelaer under the eyes and into the inner corner. Velvety skin requires perfectly applied foundation. Use a foundation brush starting at the centre of the face and moving outwards, use only where needed to even skin tone and choose a foundation that matches skin tone exactly. Opt for yellow based foundations as pink toned foundations can look unnatural, pale and make you look washed out.
Illuminate: Along the top of cheekbones, under the brow bone and down the bridge of the nose, keeping the trail thin to lengthen and under the eyes. Use a highlighter on the curve of the cupids bow to plump up lips. Blend slightly onto the chin and above the jawline.
Chiselled cheekbones: Contouring and sculpting is the easiest way to create natural definition.
To add definition apply a shading creme one - two shades deeper than your skin tone and apply to the socket and side of the nose and apply under the cheekbone where the cheekbone sinks in the most. Blend the edges of the contour lines, but not completely as this will lessen the overall effect. Finish with some translucent powder to set.
Definition: Understated eye - Apply a creamy vanilla shadow to the entire lid and under the brow bone. Sculpt eyes and add definition by applying taupe/toffee eyeshadow along socket line. Smudge taupe/toffee eye shadow under the eyes as will open them up. Line upper lids with liquid liner for definition at the lash line. White liner on the inner rim of the eye instantly makes the eyes pop and brightens them.
Layer the lip: Use a neutral lip liner and nude hued lipstick to accentuate the lip shape. A neutral mouth looks sophisticated, but choose the colour carefully so you don't look washed out. Beigey pinks that are one shade lighter or darker than your natural skin tone work best by enhancing them in a natural way. Use a slick of hydrating lipstick and top off with gloss.
Luscious lashes: Compliment a natural pout with doe eyed lashes to anchor the look.
Perfect brow: To avoid wash out when paring back on colour, frame eyes with a strong defined brow.Eyebrows are groomed, simply brush upwards into an arch shape using a brow brush and define with a soft brown powder. Use brow gel to hold them in place.
